2025 FISU Rhine-Ruhr Summer World University Games
The 33rd FISU Summer World University Games was held in Germany from July 16-27, hosting over 8,500 student athletes from 113 nations across 18 sports categories. Being the only coach appointed for both poomsae and sparring in Taekwondo, Master Gun played a critical role in contributing to Team USA’s record setting medal count.

Eric Gun with Kaitlyn Reclusado (Team Dowon) seized the first gold medal of the games for Team USA Taekwondo in the mixed pairs poomsae. Eric Gun also won a bronze medal in the men’s individual poomsae.

In the men’s sparring, Ethan Gun battled his way to the finals match. Earning a silver medal and ending a medal drought for Team USA collegiate Taekwondo since 2017. Eric and Ethan Gun’s contribution to Team USA Taekwondo marks the best performance by the USA Collegiate Taekwondo team ever at the university games with 7 medals.
